I’m a dog trainer and the founder and owner of Umwelt. I am absolutely passionate about working with dogs and their people.
I believe that training should be humane, enjoyable, and rooted in science. As such, I pursued and earned a Bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from Brown University, and gained experience as a research and teaching assistant. My studies focused on ethology and comparative psychology, both of which inform my training methods today.
As co-founder of Brown Animal-Assisted Therapy, I was responsible for bringing dog-human therapy teams to campus. I also served as a veterinary assistant at Elizabeth Veterinary Clinic in my hometown of Elizabeth, NJ. The bulk of my hands-on experience comes from shelter settings, meaning I am especially confident with anxious, reactive, and under-socialized dogs. I’ve worked in shelters in and out of New York City, and am also a trainer at Hudson’s Hounds NYC.
I am certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I am also a Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
I am a proud vegan and live in Manhattan with adopted pals Squid and Phoebe. I fill my free time with comedy, reading, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
